Now, the cumulative numbers of both reach 6,979,423 cases and 107,416 deaths, respectively. India is set to experience more than seven million COVID-19 cases by Sunday (11/10). That figure reflects a slight drop in the number of daily cases compared to September, when coronavirus hovered around 90,000 cases per day. Experts believe India may soon overtake the United States, the country with the worst outbreak conditions in the world.

According to John Hopkins University, which compiles data on COVID-19, India ranks second in COVID-19 cases globally and third in the number of deaths.
